Which AI chats you can use without an account
On the first visit 4 of the 8 services we could test let you type without an account: ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok open straight to a message box, and Mistral's Le Chat does after you accept its terms. Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Meta AI and DeepSeek send you to a sign-in screen first. Perplexity showed our test browser an automated-traffic check, so it is not rated.
"Without login" is one of the most searched ways to try an AI chat, and the answer changes often: services move the sign-in wall forward and back as they test what works for them. Below is what each one showed on a first visit in a browser that had never been signed in anywhere, with the date we checked.
First screen, no account
Checked 2026-10-02 in a clean browser, before any sign-in. What each service shows on the first visit:
- ChatGPT Message box on the first screen; sign-in offered, not required to start. Opens without an account
- Gemini Message box on the first screen, behind Google's cookie notice. Opens without an account
- Grok Message box on the first screen; sign-in offered, not required to start. Opens without an account
- Mistral Le Chat Message box after accepting the terms of use; no account asked for. Opens after accepting terms
- Claude Redirects to the sign-in page. Account required
- Microsoft Copilot Opens on a sign-in screen with no option to skip it. Account required
- Meta AI Says "Sign in to start". Account required
- DeepSeek Redirects to the sign-in page. Account required
- Perplexity Showed an automated-traffic check to our test browser, so we could not see the first screen. Could not test
- NotTrack AI Opens without an account
How we checked: first visit in a clean desktop browser (no cookies, no account), from Ukraine. We looked only at what the service shows before any sign-in โ a message box you can type into, or a sign-in screen. We did not send messages, accept tracking cookies or create accounts. Results can differ by country and change without notice; we re-check every month.

What "opens without an account" means here
It means the first screen has a message box you can type into before any sign-in. It does not mean unlimited use: services that let you start without an account usually limit how many messages you get, which features you can use, and whether your chats are kept. Many of them ask you to sign in once you reach a limit.
Why the big services want an account
An account lets a service keep your history, count your usage, stop abuse and show you paid plans. It also ties every conversation to an identity. Services that let you start without one still read your network address and browser, so "no account" is not the same as "anonymous".
Why results differ by country
The same service can show a message box in one country and a sign-in screen in another, and some are not available in every country at all. We tested from one place on one day and say so under the table; if you see something different, that is likely the reason.
What we did not test
We did not send messages, so the table does not show how many you get before a service asks you to sign in, or which features stay locked. We also did not test mobile apps, which usually require an account even when the website does not.
How we keep the table current
We re-open every service in a clean browser once a month and update the results and the date. If a service changes its first screen in between, the date above the table tells you how fresh the result is.
What people ask before switching
Can I use ChatGPT without an account?
On our test it opened straight to a message box with sign-in offered but not required. Use without an account is usually limited, and history is not kept the way it is with an account.
Does Claude work without signing in?
No. On our test claude.ai redirected straight to its sign-in page.
Is using an AI chat without an account anonymous?
Not by itself. Without an account the service cannot tie the chat to your name or email, but it still sees your network address and browser details.
Why is Perplexity not rated?
Our test browser was shown an automated-traffic check instead of the first screen. We do not get around such checks, so we leave it unrated rather than guess.
How often is this updated?
Once a month. The date of the last check is shown above the table.
